We are proud to announce the First Annual NEC, Inc. Civil / Environmental Engineering Apprenticeship Scholarship program ($3000) that will be awarded annually to an up and coming Civil/Environmental engineering student. Each year our firm will select one (1) qualified engineering student who is entering their Junior year of an accredited college engineering program. The student selected for the apprenticeship will receive a $3,000 scholarship upon completion of the twelve (12) week apprenticeship course. The Apprenticeship course work will take place in the summer months (June thru August each year). The student will be required to complete weekly course work and assignments. The apprenticeship course work will require the student to spend roughly 4 to 5 hours a week of their time.
This Civil/Environmental Engineering Apprenticeship program has been designed to better prepare young engineers for real world Civil Engineering applications in the field. In other words, the student will be visiting real construction sites with a registered professional engineer and observing construction processes. The engineering student will learn what actually happens on a construction job site, construction methods, reviewing construction plans and being able to determine if the on-site construction is being built as per the approved construction plans.
